Your Definitive Guide To Adwords

The Definitive Guide to Adwords (over 200 pages) by Perry Marshall offers an approach to getting started on a profitable foot with Google pay-per-click (PPC), known as Google Adwords. To quote Perry himself, the guide shows you ‘how to Beat the learning curve and generate instant web traffic with the world’s fastest direct marketing machine’.

The book is broken up into several clear-cut sections. The first chapter explains step-by-step how to set up your first adwords campaign. Screenshots are included for each step so you can follow along and do exactly what is instructed. There is also a “Getting Started Ad Content Checklist” which summarized the chapter and can be useful. Other tools and services are also recommended in this chapter to help you optimize your campaign.

The next “Managing the Basics” chapter goes into detail about how to improve the efficiency of your Adwords campaigns. Once you get up and running, you next want to make sure you are getting the most for your money which is where so many first time users go wrong. This section shows you how to organise your ads, keywords etc, so that they will pull in more qualified leads/customers/buyers or whatever it is that you want. Google actually rewards you for creating relevant ads and they penalize you for creating ads that, according to them, are not relevant. In a nutshell, more relevant ads get better Click Through Rates (CTRs), cost less and come up higher in the search results. There are many examples that can help you out in this chapter as well.

The next Definitive Guide to Adwords chapter is called “Making Your Traffic Pay”. It goes over conversion techniques, tracking, split testing and other important issues. As you probably already are aware, traffic doesn’t do you any good unless you can convert it into customers. Here Perry also discusses the difference between the search traffic and the content traffic and when and if you should use both. As in the first chapters, there are also many examples to help guide you through.

“Tools, Tips & Tricks” discusses Google image ads, Google Adsense, and other lesser-known features of Google as well as other helpful tips to do with marketing your products and/or services.

In the “Your Questions Answered” chapter, frequently asked questions are addressed. Also, tips are given about how to deal with competitive (expensive) keywords.

“Improving Your World” is a more informational, rather than instructional, chapter. And the last chapter goes on to describe more tools and services that are offered by the author. And the epilogue teaches you how and why to build a list of customers and make “backend sales” which is very important as well.

The Definitive Guide to Adwords is especially praised for its specific, step-by-step instructions and examples. It is also considered very easy to follow along as it mixes up instruction with stories and examples to break up the content.

How To Discover Best Internet Advertising

There are many forms of advertising online. The best internet advertising for your business will depend on the nature of your products and/or services and your budget. Some of the most effective ways to advertise include promotional articles, ezine advertising, website advertising, search engine listings and pay per click (PPC) advertising.

Writing informational article about whatever it is that you want to promote can be very effective in terms of gaining customers and status, and this is also extremely cost-effective. . .in fact, it’s free. The important factor to keep in mind here is that you are writing to solve the problems of your target market. Your article should not be a “promotional” article about the features or your product or service. Rather, it should be an informational article about how your product/service can help its readers. Article marketing requires that you write (or hire someone else to write) articles and then you submit these articles to the various article directories. Your cost will be in time but not in dollars (if you choose to create the articles yourself). This is a great way to get started if you are new to online marketing.

You can pay to have your website listed in the search engines or you can do this for free. To get listed in the search engines does not have to cost you money.

Google is the most recognized in Pay Per click with their Google Adwords platform. This can be an expensive form of advertising if it’s not done correctly. But many savvy marketers attribute much of their success to pay per click advertising and would rate it as the best internet advertising method. Simply put, PPC ads are those that you see on the right-hand side of the screen when you do a search online for anything. As a PPC advertiser, you bid on a keyword or keyword phrase that is relevant to your business. How much you bid determines where your ad will appear on the page. When someone clicks on your ad, you pay Google, or whatever platform you are using, for that click. You can’t get any more measurable advertising results than this!

Most content-driven websites offer you the possibility to advertise on their site and the prices they charge will vary. If you do this form of advertising, you need to do your research to make sure that your potential customers are visiting the sites you choose.

Advertising in ezines (online newsletters), is a great way to get the word out to a very specific and responsive list. Again, here you need to do your research to see who the ezine is targeting, how responsive the list is and how much your ad will cost. After you start using ezines to promote your products/services, you will start to get a feel for what is working and what is not.

These are some of the best internet advertising methods. Pick the one that suits you and your business and your budget and start from there.

Internet Advertising Trends Local PPC Marketing

Marketing online can get you business from all over the world. But many business owners aren’t aware of one of the most recent internet advertising trends which involves using the web to target local markets as well as national and international markets. And many new marketers are wary of pay-per-click (PPC) advertising in local markets because they haven’t been taught how to do it correctly. Pay per click doesn’t have to be expensive or only for the big players. Anyone can get started with a small budget and gradually work their way up as they learn more and bring in more customers and profits.

Pay per click revolves around keywords. So, the most important factor in your PPC advertising campaign is your keywords. But the keywords themselves aren’t important. It is what they represent that you need to focus on. For the purposes of PPC, keywords are the terms that consumers type into a search engine (like Google, Yahoo, MSN or any of the others out there) when they are looking for information.

These words represent what the person is seeking out, what they need or solutions to their problems. Finding out what people are typing in is easy and free. One of the free keyword research tools is the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. You just type in a term that is relevant to your business and Google will show you the exact related terms that people are typing in and how often they are searching for it. If you are doing a national or global PPC campaign you can stop at these keywords. If you are doing a local campaign, you want to add in geo-targeted words.

Another way to take advantage of the local internet advertising trends is to establish a presence in the social networks and/or forums that are related to your industry. Set up your free accounts at places like Facebook and Twitter and include the website that you want to promote in your profile. Then you can start searching for other network users who are in your area and communicating with them.

This is a great way to network online without having to actually go to a networking type of meeting. But this is also a great way to make that first connection which can then lead to an offline type of get-together. Although you can set up a Facebook page which actually promotes your business, you will not be doing any kind of hypey advertising on your Facebook profile. However, you can also do PPC advertisement in Facebook and these can be more promotional.

Remember as you are going about in your wider-scope advertising campaigns, that one of the biggest internet advertising trends right now is the shift back to the local market. This type of marketing builds your brand, allows you reach more customers and to get a jump on your competitors who haven’t yet joined the trend.

Local Internet Marketing – Business Bonanza

While it seems most people focus on the global benefits of having an online presence, that doesn’t mean that you can’t benefit from local internet marketing. The internet offers a fantastic resource that allows you a huge amount of customization. You can target your offers to your local community or target them to anyone on the planet, the choose is yours.

IF you have an offline business it just doesn’t make sense to advertise to people half way across the country, that would be a waste of time and money. But that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the great opportunities for marketing your business online for free or very low cost. You can pinpoint the exact geographic location you want to focus on when you set up your online marketing efforts. Not only can you pinpoint a location in your marketing, you can pinpoint various demographic features as well depending on the needs of your business.

You can link your website with all the online social sites as well, and you can target it locally as well. Sites like Facebook, LinkdIn, Twitter, etc. You can create links for each of these social networking sites back to your company website to attract more visitors to your website, and hopefully, your offline store. More visitors can result in more sales.

When targeting for the local audience you can take the keywords you’ve chosen for your site and add your location. So for example, if you’re advertising as a dog trainer, you could put Detroit Area Dog Trainer. Something that will focus the searchers on to your location.

Whether you’re trying to target only local customers or you are targeting the whole planet, the basic techniques you use will be the same. You can rely on many methods of getting traffic to your website: article marketing, SEO, PPC, etc. Once they’re at your site you should use an auto-responder to get them to sign up to your mailing list so you can have more than one opportunity to connect with them.

I know it sounds like Mumbo Jumbo but learning what each method is all about is vital to the success of your online marketing tactics. Here is a brief overview:

1. Pay Per Click (PPC) is simply a way of placing an ad on a search engine such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, Bing, etc. When someone clicks on your ad you will pay. The amount you pay will vary greatly depending on the popularity of the keywords you’ve chosen as well as how well your ad does. If it seems complicated, don’t worry, it is. You may want to find someone who is knowledgeable and can help you navigate through this process.

2. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) this involves placing certain keywords in some of the code of your website. This may seem complicated too, but it’s not really that hard. Have someone explain it to you in more detail and even if you’re not very techie you can do it yourself.

3. Auto-responder. This is an automated method for gathering the email addresses of your website visitors. You will need to sign up for an auto-responder service so the whole process is automated but the bottom line is that when someone visits your site they can agree to receive emails from you (when they do this it’s called ‘opting in’ ) that way you can email them and not worry about spamming. This is a great way to keep contact with them and it’s totally automatic, you just set up the auto-responder (which is easy to do) and let it go.

Even if you are just looking for more customers for your brick and mortar business, don’t think that you have to miss out on the amazing opportunities offered by the internet. You can use local internet marketing to get more customers in the door and more money in your pocket.

Keyword Search Marketing – 7 Simple Tips

If you have decided that you are going to advertise your internet business using search engine optimization, then you need to do some keyword search marketing before you do anything else. Keywords will ultimately get you the visitors to your website that you need to be successful.

Using a keyword tool like Google Adwords Keyword Tool will give you ideas on the keywords your customers are using in their searches to find what they want. Be careful though, not all keywords are good ones. Some may be obsolete and not work for you. So choose wisely.

No matter how you are going to advertise, article marketing, PPC (pay-per-click) or search engine optimization, effective keywords are important to each one. Below are simple steps you can follow to do a keyword search.

1. Do a Google search for Google Adwords Keyword Tool.

2 When you get there, type a keyword related to whatever product or service you are offering in the search bar.

3. Type in the captcha security characters in the box provided.

4. Click “get keyword ideas”.

5. You will get a list of keyword search marketing ideas related to your product or service and info on how many searches that particular keyword gets and what your competition is, in numbers. What you are looking for when you see these numbers is a high search rate with low competition. This is a good keyword.

6. Now, open Notepad and copy and paste the good keywords you find into it. Remember, finding good keywords may take some time. It is not always as easy as it sounds. They generally do not just jump right off the page into your lap. Be patient.

7. Keep searching, do this over and over again until you have several keywords that will work for you. Then you can start putting your website together.

Oh, by the way, the domain name you purchase for your website should be one of these keywords followed by .com, .net, .org, etc. That way, when someone searches for that specific keyword, your site will be the first one they see at the top of the search results page. It is quite the feeling when you see that for the first time. Not only are you at the top of the search results page, but you will feel like you are on top of the world, also.

Take that momentum and just build on it. Try not to get discouraged if you don’t make any money right away. Just learn new and different ways to drive more and more traffic to your website. The money will come later. This is by no means a get rich quick kind of thing. This does take work. Just like anything you have that is worthwhile, you have to work for it.

Starting a new internet business can be intimidating and confusing. You can lessen the confusion and intimidation by knowing and understanding what it is your customers want and need. Keyword research marketing is the first step in that process.
