Link Building Tips For Blogs

If you are involved in internet marketing, then you need to set aside some time for the purpose of link building. And let’s face it, just about every business is marketing online today. When we talk about link building, we are referring to the links on other sites that point back to your sites, as well as your site’s internal linking structure. With that in mind, here are some tips to put your link building on the right track.

There is one important thing you must do before you start doing any link building, and that’s making sure that the people who will be visiting your site will see one that is of the highest quality possible. This is what will make everything else work. In fact, you will naturally start to pick up links from other sites because they will see you are worth linking to.

Use blog directories to your benefit. Go to your favorite search engine and search for “blog directories” and you will see that there are a lot of them out there. Some will accept links to any blog, while others cater to a more specific and targeted audience. Register for as many of these as you can, and be sure to focus on your keywords when signing up.

During this whole time, you should also be adding more fresh content to your blog. When you have published a decent amount of content you can start contacting other bloggers to swap blogroll links. If possible, start by approaching those bloggers who are at your level or above as this will give your site more credibility.

One of the most overlooked link building tips is to write articles for sites that allow guest contributions. Again, aim for those sites that are ranked the same or higher than yours to get more bang for your link building efforts.

Another great way to get more traffic and back links is to have a blog contest. How you set it up is up to you, but the goal is to get people to link back to your site. One way to do this is to give bonus contest entries to everyone who links back. There are also sites that promote current and upcoming blog contests, so be sure to submit your contest to them also.

Commenting on other people’s blogs is a fantastic way to generate back links. Look for related blogs that are placing high in the search engines, and leave thoughtful comments. Of course there is nothing stopping you from creating other sites and blogs that link back to the blog you want to rank best for. You can then “comment” on your own posts using various pen names.

Link building tips are great, but a lot of people forget about the internal structure of their sites. This is simply how all of your pages are linked to one another. The easiest way to do this is to make sure all of your pages have a link to all of your other pages.

Creating A Blog

If you have been thinking that creating a blog would be fun, and maybe even profitable, but you just don’t where to start, I can help. Setting up your new blog is not difficult at all, even if you are an absolute beginner. The simple steps to take can be learned and completed by most people in a few hours time.

Here are some key points you need to keep in mind before you jump in feet first:

1. The first thing you’ll want to give some thought to is what will be the topic of your blog? Are you going to share some of your expertise on one of your hobbies? Are you going to use your blog as a way to keep in touch with family and friends? Or are you going to use your blog to build an online business? This step is crucial in determining several other factors related to your blog.

For example, if you are building a blog to share your expertise or keep in touch with family, you can probably just stick with the many free blogging platforms around such as Blogger.com, WordPress.com, Squidoo.com, Hubpages.com, etc. There is really no need for a ‘personal blogger’ to invest in their own domain name and hosting account, of course you can if you want, but you don’t really need to.

If, on the other hand, your blog is going to be for business and you are setting it up with the sole purpose of making an income online than you need to invest in a domain name and hosting account. Think of it like this: you wouldn’t open a fast food franchise in someone else’s building would you? You would at least need to have a contract stating that you were renting the space and therefore you could control, to a degree, what you did with that space. The internet is no different. When you own your domain name and you have your blog hosted it’s the same as owning some real estate online. This is important for the long term success of your business, this is also the biggest mistake many newbies make.

2. The second most important thing you need to consider, especially if you’re setting up a business, is to choose the topic of your blog. This topic, or niche, will largely determine whether or not you succeed online. Too many people just jump into a niche because they like it without having spent time researching whether or not it’s a viable market for them to make money in.

One of the best gauges of a good niche market is how many people are buying products related to that market? No matter how many people might like a certain niche, do they actually spend money on it? You can use free tools to determine this such as Amazon.com and the Google Keyword tools. Take some time to find a good niche market and the majority of your work will be done.

3. And last, pick the theme that you want for your blog. You can find hundreds of themes for free. Just pick a style that works for the subject of your blog. If you are building a business blog you may also want to install some plugins that will increase the functionality of your blog. A plugin is similar in concept to an app for a smart phone, it’s just a small software program that will enable you do to more things with your blog. There are thousands of plugins available and most of them are free.

These tips will help you when you are creating a blog, no matter what type of blog you are putting together. Most of all, enjoy yourself, blogging really is fun.

Domain For Sale – Tips For Domain Buying

Want to buy a domain for sale? Not sure where to look? Well, I’ve got some answers for you. Having your own domain name is step one to having a successful internet business. Many people mistakenly think that it’s OK to go with the free services such as Yahoo, WordPress or Blogger. If you’re only building a blog so you can keep in touch with family or friends than that’s a good way to go about it, but if you’re trying to make money online there are several reasons why that isn’t the best course of action.

For one thing, when you use the free services you don’t own anything. You are completely at the mercy of the company, and their policies. If they decide they don’t like something in your blog they can pull the plug, and they don’t have to warn you or give you an explanation. You don’t want to spend weeks, months or years building up a successful business to just wake up one day and find that your website has been offline.

The second thing is that you want to brand yourself. As you build your business you want to gain name recognition. This is a very important element to any successful business and without your own domain name it’s virtually impossible. If you are using free services it just makes you look unprofessional, this is especially bad if you’re trying to build yourself up as a teacher in a certain field.

Now that I’ve convinced you that you need to invest in your own domain names, you need to know how to pick the best name and where to buy one. For most people the best way to pick out a good domain name is to start with keyword research. Pick a list of highly searched keywords in your niche market and then try to get those exact keywords as domain names.

For example, if your niche is dog training and you find a great keyword: Quick and easy dog training. Than you would try to get QuickAndEasyDogTraining.com as your domain name. You do want to keep the domain name around 3 or 4 words max, but with a domain name like this you will get a ton of free traffic since your domain name is the exact search term people are looking for.

Now that you’ve decided on what your domain names should be you can go to places like GoDaddy.com or NameCheap (I only use NameCheap) and do a search to see if the domain name you want is available. Many times it won’t be, that’s why it’s important to have quite a long list of possible names. I personally recommend using other extensions than just a .com. I’ve found that I have just as good luck with a .net or .org (it can also be easier to get one of these extensions). If you buy just one domain name at a time for a one year period it’s usually around $10 a year. Blogging Beginners has a couple of free videos on choosing your domain name that might make it easier for you.

I personally don’t buy my domain names for more than a year at a time at first, true you’ll have to renew it in a year (the company you bought it from will let you know when it needs to be renewed) but why pay for several years for a domain name that might not be a moneymaker? I personally like to pay for one year until I know whether or not I’ve found a moneymaking niche, when I know I’ve got a profitable niche on my hands I’ll pay for several years in advance.

There you go, everything you need to know when it comes time to find a domain for sale. Having your own domain name is one of the most important steps in building a profitable online empire.

What Is Blogging

It’s easy to get confused when it comes to the internet, it seems like there is a new fad popping up almost daily. Between Facebook, and Tweeting, it’s very easy to feel overwhelmed and while I don’t pretend to be an expert about all things internet, I can help answer the question: what is blogging?

Blogs started as online journals, a web log (blog). For the most part it started as a way for people to have their own website online and share their thoughts and expertise with anyone who might be interested. Over the last few years though more and more people have learned that having a blog can also help them make some money online.

Although the best way to make money and have the control you need to create a profitable blog is to have it on your own hosting with your own domain name (like they teach at Blogging Beginners) there are many places where you can start a blog for free, some of the most popular are WordPress.com, Blogger.com, Squidoo.com, HubPages.com. If you want to learn more just do a search online. These places will allow you to set up your own blog for no charge.

The actual steps may vary somewhat from one place to another, but here is an overview of the basic steps you will take to set up your own blog:

1. First you will sign up, at that time you will be asked to pick out a name for your blog. It can be anything you want it to be, Cathy’s Kittens, or Sally’s Sewing, etc. Just pick something that you like and reflects the nature of your blog.

2. Once you’ve signed up you can pick out the theme you want to use. A theme is just the template for your blog. They come in all types of styles and you can find many of them for free. Just do a search for themes online and you’ll see what I mean.

3. Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the theme and how it works. It’s not hard, but you want to be comfortable so you don’t miss out on any great options you may have.

4. Start making posts to your blog. Every time you write an article for your blog it’s called a post. Most blog themes will allow you to easily upload pictures, videos, and music. They will also have helpful features like spell check.

Once you’ve got your post looking just the way you want it, you can click on the ‘publish’ tab and your post will be uploaded to your blog so that all your visitors can read what you’ve written or look at your pictures.

These are the basic steps you will need to take when starting a blog. The important thing for you to remember is that if you are starting a blog as a business you will want to change out some of these steps:

1. The first thing you will want to do is to figure out what subject your blog is going to be about. This isn’t a difficult step but it is a vital one. When it comes to making money online with a blog, half the battle is picking the right niche market. Find a market that has a lot of people who are passionate about it… and who spend money on it, and you’re well on your way.

2. When you find a good niche market you can take a keyword related to that market and buy a domain name with that keyword in it. With a business blog you don’t want to use the free sites, you will want to buy a domain name and get a hosting account. I know this can sound overwhelming if you are new, but just take it one step at a time, it’s not that hard or that expensive. A hosting account and domain name will cost you around %30, maybe a little less.

3. At this point the process is basically the same as the above method. You just pick out a theme that reflects the topic of your website and start making posts.

I hope this overview has helped answer the question: what is blogging? Just get started and you’ll see how easy and fun it can be.
